Residents of Malibu or Topanga who know the terrain, want to give back, and can patrol during Red Flag conditions to help spot smoke and mitigate fire hazards early.

LASD requires a minimum of 30 volunteer hours per year to remain active. That is an average of 8 hrs/qtr. This includes meetings, patrols and events.
First, try to identify the location and type of fire (e.g., brush fire vs. BBQ). When in doubt, call 911 — dispatchers will ask for your location and any details that help them send the right resources.
